Kitui West MP hopeful and Commissioner Ben Muasya has defended leaders who work closely with the National Government, arguing that such collaboration is essential for accelerating development rather than betraying the interests of the Kamba community.
Speaking during a public engagement, Muasya said politics should not stand in the way of service delivery, insisting that residents deserve leaders who can effectively lobby for projects that improve livelihoods.
Muasya cited Kitui East MP Hon. Nimrod Mbai and Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai as examples of leaders whose cooperation with the National Government has yielded tangible development gains. According to him, the two constituencies have attracted major investments that are transforming local economies and improving public services.
He pointed to the ongoing construction of tarmacked roads, establishment of modern markets, and expansion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions as some of the flagship projects delivered through the partnership. Muasya said such investments are opening up rural areas, creating employment opportunities, and making the constituencies more attractive to investors.
The commissioner argued that infrastructure development plays a critical role in stimulating economic growth by easing transportation, boosting trade, and improving access to education and essential services. He maintained that development should be the primary measure of leadership performance.
Turning to Kitui West, Muasya claimed that the constituency has lagged behind because of what he described as a reluctance by its leadership to embrace constructive engagement with the National Government. He said political differences should never come at the expense of development and improved living standards for residents.
As he intensifies his campaign for the 2027 parliamentary race, Muasya pledged to champion a leadership style focused on cooperation, development, and results. He vowed to aggressively lobby for infrastructure, education, and economic empowerment projects if elected to represent Kitui West in the National Assembly.
He concluded by urging the people of Kitui West to support leaders who prioritize service delivery over political rivalry, saying that unity and collaboration are key to unlocking the constituency’s full development potential. He emphasized that his vision is to ensure Kitui West benefits from transformative projects capable of creating jobs, attracting investment, and improving the quality of life for all residents.
