Kitui County intensified its push for investment on Tuesday after hosting a high-level Stakeholders’ Breakfast Meeting in Nairobi aimed at attracting strategic partners and positioning the county as a preferred destination for business and economic growth.
The meeting, organized jointly by the County Government of Kitui and the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, served as a platform to market the county’s investment opportunities and rally support ahead of the upcoming Kitui Agricultural Show, Trade and Investment Expo (KASTIE) 2026.
The forum attracted a diverse group of participants, including ambassadors, high commissioners, Principal Secretaries, development partners, representatives from national government ministries and agencies, financial institutions, private sector players and Kitui entrepreneurs operating in Nairobi.
Governor Julius Malombe used the occasion to present Kitui as an emerging investment hub with untapped potential across several key sectors that are expected to drive the county’s economic transformation.
He identified mining, agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, manufacturing and infrastructure development as some of the major sectors offering opportunities for investors seeking to establish or expand their operations in the county.
The governor emphasized that the county administration has continued putting in place policies and structures designed to create a favorable environment for both local and international investors.
Among the initiatives highlighted were six Economic and Investment Zones established to spur industrial growth and economic activities across the county, as well as the planned 1,500-acre Kitui County Industrial Park expected to boost manufacturing and value addition.
Malombe also outlined the county’s One-Stop-Shop investment facilitation framework, saying it is intended to simplify procedures and reduce bureaucratic barriers that often discourage investors.
He called upon development partners and investors to seize the opportunities available in Kitui, noting that strategic partnerships would play a key role in accelerating economic growth, creating jobs and improving livelihoods for residents.
The meeting also served as a build-up to KASTIE 2026, scheduled for September 24–26 at Ithookwe Stadium, where the county government will provide a broader platform to showcase its investment potential, innovations and development agenda. Principal Secretary for Industry Dr. Juma Mukhwana and Principal Secretary for Mining Harry Kimtai were among leaders who addressed the forum.
