KITUI, Kenya – Ithookwe Stadium has been confirmed as the official venue for the 2026 Governor’s Cup Grand Finals, with the three-day football extravaganza set to take place from August 21 to 23, 2026.
The tournament will bring together the county’s top teams to battle for top honours in what is expected to be one of Kitui’s biggest sporting events of the year.
The County Government of Kitui, through the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Youth, ICT, Sports and Social Services, said the choice of Ithookwe Stadium aims to provide spectators with a world-class sporting experience while offering local players a bigger platform to showcase their talent.
Officials noted that the Governor’s Cup has become an important initiative for promoting youth empowerment, nurturing sporting talent and fostering unity among communities across the county.
Beyond the action on the pitch, the finals are also expected to boost economic activity, with local businesses anticipated to benefit from the influx of players, officials and fans attending the event.
The County Government has urged residents, families and football enthusiasts from across Kitui to turn out in large numbers and support their teams during the championship, describing the finals as a celebration of sports, talent and community spirit.
