Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with national government agencies to accelerate development and improve service delivery across the county.
Governor Malombe spoke when he hosted Tanathi Water Works Development Agency (TAWWDA) Chief Executive Officer Mr. Sammy Lemunke Naporos during his first courtesy call to the Governor.
The Governor said the partnership between the County Government and TAWWDA has played a key role in advancing water projects, particularly in areas experiencing persistent water shortages.
He noted that closer collaboration between the two levels of government would help expand access to reliable and sustainable water supplies for residents across Kitui.
Mr. Naporos said TAWWDA is working to increase water connections across its area of operation, revealing that the agency is implementing 34 water projects this financial year.
Of the 34 projects, 16 are located in Kitui County, while the remaining projects are being implemented in Machakos, Makueni and Kajiado counties.
Among the agency’s major investments in Kitui is the multi-million-shilling expansion and augmentation of the Masinga-Kitui Intake Works, as well as the Kiambere-Mwingi last-mile water connectivity projects.
The projects are expected to enhance water supply infrastructure and improve access to clean and reliable water for households and other users across the county.
The meeting was attended by Kitui County Executive Committee Member for Water Peter Gitonga and senior officials from the County Government, TAWWDA, Kitui Water and Sewerage Company (KITWASCO) and KIMWASCO.
