On Friday, November 8, 2024 – The County Government of Kitui today donated assorted items including beddings in support of training of 254 newly-recruited National Police Reservists (NPRs).
Speaking while handing over the consignment at Kitui Central Police Station, Chief Officer in charge of Decentralized Units, Stephen Gitonga, said the recruits will undergo a thirty-day training programme at Mwingi.
“We are here on behalf of our Governor Dr. Julius Malombe to deliver this consignment, which will assist the 254 NPR trainees as they undergo the training,” Salee said.
Salee further added “after the training the NPR officers will be deployed along our borders which are prone to insecurity cases.”
“We are confident that upon conclusion of their training, the NPRs will complement efforts by other security personnel posted along our border areas to enhance security in our county,” he added.
On her part, the Kitui County Police Commander, Leah Kithei, expressed her gratitude to the Governor for the immense support demonstrated for the upcoming NPR training.
“Let me take this opportunity to thank Governor Malombe for this invaluable support. As we know, most of these recruits have been drawn from humble backgrounds, where a number of them could not even afford the beddings,” she said.
