Kitui holds elections for Community Driven Development Committees Under NAVCDP

The process of electing officers for key community institutions vital to the success of the National Agricultural and Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) was carried out today in all the 40 wards across the County.

The exercise focused on the selection of seven representatives from each ward to form the Community Driven Development Committee (CDDC).

The committees will play a pivotal role in executing community development plans, mobilizing community members into Community Interest Groups (CIGs), Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups (VMGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and saccos among other development initiatives.

Kitui Chief Officer for Agriculture and Fisheries, Gladys Kivoto, who supervised the exercise in Kitui South Sub-County, emphasized the importance of the process urging residents to make informed choices when selecting their representatives, noting that the success of the project heavily relies on the effectiveness and dedication of the CDDCs.

“The formation of these committees is crucial for the success of our agricultural and value chain development initiatives. I encourage all residents to choose accountable, reliable, truthful, committed, transparent and truly invested individuals for the progress of our communities,” Kivoto stated.

The elections, which kicked off today, are a key milestone in the broader agenda of empowering local communities through structured and sustainable development efforts.
