Outstanding Kitui South MP Dr. Racheal Nyamai has expressed her appreciation to the national government, through the Ministry of Interior, for green-lighting the training of 254 police reservists from Kitui County.
This initiative aims to bolster security along the volatile Kitui-Tana River border, where the region has faced persistent insecurity attributed to camel invasions from neighboring counties.
The towering Mp emphasized the positive impact this initiative will have on Kitui South, a region long troubled by cross-border conflicts. She also acknowledged the proactive efforts of the Kitui County government, led by Governor Dr. Makau Malombe, for its role in expediting the process to bring additional security forces to the area.
The reservists are set to receive their training at the Kanyonyoo Border Police Camp in Kitui before being deployed across high-risk zones in Kitui South and Kitui East. Their mission will focus on maintaining peace and enhancing security along the border, where tensions have frequently flared.
In her address, Dr. Nyamai called on the reservists to exercise patriotism and discipline as they serve to ensure peace in the region. “It’s crucial that our reservists uphold the highest standards of discipline and commitment to the safety of our communities,” she urged.
This initiative is expected to greatly benefit Kitui County, bringing a long-awaited sense of security and stability to the residents of Kitui South.
