Yatta Kwavonza Ward MCA Mark Nding’o has strongly dismissed a wave of alleged fake messages and manipulated graphics circulating online, terming the trend as a calculated move to misrepresent his character and intimidate him politically. The MCA maintained that the content being shared across social media platforms does not reflect his views or political stance.
In a statement, Nding’o emphasized that while the Constitution of Kenya guarantees freedom of expression, it does not protect the spread of false information, hate speech, or defamatory content that could incite public disorder. He noted that the ongoing circulation of misleading information is not only harmful to his reputation but also undermines healthy political engagement.
The MCA reiterated his commitment to maintaining respectful and cordial relationships with leaders across the political divide. He dismissed claims linking him to alleged hateful sentiments against former Kitui Governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu, describing her as a respected leader and a personal friend who has significantly contributed to the development of the county.
Nding’o further condemned what he described as a growing culture of political intolerance, where competitors resort to propaganda, misinformation, and character assassination instead of issue-based campaigns. He warned that such tactics threaten democratic values and could erode public trust in leadership.
He urged his supporters and the public to remain calm and vigilant, advising them to rely only on official communication channels and verified sources for accurate information. The MCA emphasized that any legitimate updates or statements from his office would be shared through his recognized platforms.
As the political atmosphere continues to heat up ahead of future elections, Nding’o called for maturity among leaders and their supporters, noting that constructive competition fosters unity and progress. He expressed confidence that, ultimately, the electorate will make informed decisions at the ballot, guided by truth and integrity rather than propaganda.
