Kitui County – Governor Dr. Julius Malombe continues to translate development plans into tangible results across Kitui, while also setting the record straight on misinformation surrounding county projects.
In Waita Ward, Mwingi Central, Governor Malombe commissioned key infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activity. He also opened the renovated outpatient block at Waita Health Centre and the renovated and newly equipped Maongoa Dispensary. The two facilities bring essential healthcare services closer to residents, reducing long journeys for treatment and ensuring faster, more efficient, and quality care at the grassroots.
The Governor concluded the tour by commissioning the St. Paul’s Waita Senior School Borehole Water Project, a life-changing investment that provides clean and reliable water to St. Paul’s Waita Senior School and neighboring Waita Comprehensive School. The borehole enhances learning conditions and eases long-standing water insecurity for learners, teachers, and surrounding communities.
Governor Malombe’s Friday development tours have become a hallmark of his administration’s focus on implementation. His team is consistently in the villages commissioning completed projects in healthcare, water, roads, and education that are already transforming lives and expanding access to essential services.
On the Ilimikuyu Earth Dam in Endau/Malani Ward, the Governor’s office dispelled propaganda alleging that the County Government spent Ksh 150 million on the project. The facts confirm that the dam and water distribution network were funded by the European Union and implemented through the Water Sector Trust Fund under the Ending Drought Emergencies: Climate Proofed Infrastructure Programme. The County Government did not participate in the design or implementation. Phase 1 stalled in 2020, and Phase 2 stalled in 2025 due to misalignment between design components and ground requirements. Accountability lies with the National Government through WSTF and the donor, not the County Government. Governor Malombe remains committed to value for money and safeguarding public resources for maximum benefit to residents.
Across Kitui, Governor Malombe’s development footprint is visible in roads, water projects, health facilities, ECDE classrooms, and other critical infrastructure that continue to open opportunities for economic growth and improve livelihoods.
