Football excitement is building across Kitui County following the launch of registration for the Dr. Kasalu Super Cup 2026, a countywide grassroots tournament expected to become one of the biggest football competitions in the region. Registration is currently underway in all 247 villages, with organizers calling on teams to sign up and prepare for a tournament designed to nurture local talent and unite communities through sport.
The tournament is expected to feature more than 600 teams and over 9,600 players, making it one of the largest grassroots football events ever organized in Kitui County. The competition will provide young footballers from every corner of the county with an opportunity to showcase their abilities while promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and community engagement.
According to the tournament structure, matches will begin at the village level before progressing to the ward, constituency, and ultimately the Grand Finale, where the county’s best teams will battle for top honors. Organizers have also announced that grand award prizes will be presented at every stage of the competition to recognize outstanding performances and encourage healthy competition.
Beyond the action on the pitch, the Dr. Kasalu Super Cup aims to strengthen grassroots football by identifying promising talent that can progress to higher levels of the game. The initiative is also expected to boost social cohesion by bringing together players, coaches, fans, and local communities in a celebration of sport and youth empowerment.
With preparations gathering momentum, anticipation continues to grow across Kitui as teams finalize their registrations. Organizers have urged all eligible clubs to seize the opportunity and be part of what promises to be a memorable football festival under the theme #TusakateBoli, Vijanaa na Dr. Kasalu, as the county prepares for a bigger and better edition of the Dr. Kasalu Super Cup in 2026.
