KAUWI, KITUI WEST, July 31, 2026 — Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has commissioned a newly completed main theatre and a fully equipped radiology department at Kauwi Level IV Hospital, marking a major boost to healthcare services in Kitui West.
The main theatre was completed by the County Government of Kitui, while the radiology department was constructed and equipped under Governor Malombe’s administration to enhance diagnostic and surgical services.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony on Friday, the Governor said the projects are part of the county’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, improve service delivery, and ensure residents have access to quality and affordable medical care closer to their homes.
The new facilities are expected to reduce referrals to distant hospitals, improve emergency response, and provide better healthcare services to residents of Kauwi Ward and neighbouring areas.
The commissioning underscores the county government’s continued investment in expanding and modernising health facilities across Kitui.
