Residents of Kilawani and Ngovu villages in Yatta Kwa Vonza Ward have received a major infrastructure boost after area MCA Hon. Mark Nding’o presided over the official site handover for the construction of a concrete slab along the Kilawani–Ngovu road.
Speaking during the exercise on Thursday afternoon, Hon. Nding’o said the project is expected to end years of suffering for residents who have struggled to navigate the rocky section of the road, especially during the rainy season. He noted that the improved crossing will enhance accessibility and make transport safer and more reliable.
The MCA described the project as a significant milestone in his commitment to improving road infrastructure across the ward, saying the concrete slab will ease the movement of people, farm produce and essential services while opening up the area for greater economic activity.
Local residents welcomed the commencement of the project, expressing optimism that the long-awaited intervention will finally address a challenge that has affected the community for generations. They thanked Hon. Nding’o for prioritizing the road and urged the contractor to complete the works within the stipulated timeframe.
