Kitui Rural MP hopeful Hon. John Kisangau “Mbaki Mbaki” on Friday hosted a major Welfare Groups Empowerment Event at Kavisuni in Kisasi Ward, Kitui Rural Constituency, attracting more than 5,000 residents from Kavisuni and neighbouring areas.
The event brought together residents, welfare groups, community leaders and political figures in what emerged as a significant grassroots mobilisation and empowerment gathering. The large turnout underscored the growing interest in initiatives aimed at supporting community groups and improving livelihoods across Kitui Rural.
Among the leaders who graced the event were Kitui County Chairperson Hon. Rachel Kaki, Principal Secretary for Livestock Hon. Jonathan Mueke, Kitui East MP Hon. Nimrod Mbai and Mwingi West MP Hon. Charles Nguna, popularly known as CNN. Senator Beth Syengo, Hon. Boniface Musambi and Commissioner Ben Muasya were also in attendance.
The gathering further attracted former Mwingi Central MP Hon. Joe Mutambu and former Cabinet Secretary Prof. Peninah Malonza, alongside the Speaker of the Kitui County Assembly, several Members of the County Assembly and National Government Administration officials led by the Kisasi Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner.
Addressing the gathering, Kisangau expressed appreciation to the residents of Kavisuni and surrounding areas for turning up in large numbers, describing the overwhelming participation as a strong demonstration of community support for grassroots empowerment initiatives.
The event provided a platform for welfare groups and residents to engage with leaders while highlighting the importance of strengthening community-based organisations as vehicles for economic empowerment, social support and improved livelihoods.
Kisangau thanked all the leaders, residents and stakeholders who participated in the event, saying the overwhelming turnout had demonstrated the strong spirit of unity and community engagement in Kitui Rural. “Asanteni sana,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to working closely with residents at the grassroots.
