Environmental conservation advocates have called on Kenyans to prioritize the protection of trees and the environment, urging communities to avoid unnecessary cutting down of trees.
The advocates have particularly emphasized the need to protect old and indigenous trees, which play an important role in maintaining biodiversity, providing shade, conserving water and supporting the ecosystem.
They urged individuals, institutions and authorities to consider alternative solutions before cutting down mature trees, noting that protecting existing trees is just as important as planting new ones.
“Let us consider protecting trees 🌴, conserving our environment and protecting old trees rather than cutting them down,” the advocates said, calling for collective action to safeguard the environment for future generations.
