Residents of Kitui West could soon have improved movement along the Kabati–Musengo Road if ongoing efforts to have the stalled section completed bear fruit. Hon. Esther Ndile has called for urgent attention to the Kabati–Musengo Road (D1176 KURA Road), saying its completion would make everyday movement easier for residents.
The road serves residents in Mutonguni Ward and Kwa Mutonga Kithumula Ward, as well as the wider Kitui West community. For many residents, better road connectivity is closely tied to access to markets, schools, health facilities and other essential services.
In a public statement dated October 5, 2026, Ndile said she is advocating for the road to be given urgent attention so that the remaining works can be undertaken. She said the project would greatly enhance mobility and convenience for road users in the affected areas.
Ndile further said efforts are being made to push for paving works to continue from the section that had already reached Ngomango. She wants the road to proceed towards completion as envisioned by the Government of Kenya through the State Department for Roads in the Ministry of Roads and Transport.
The call comes at a time when residents continue to look to improved road infrastructure to ease transport challenges in the area. A completed Kabati–Musengo route would provide a more convenient connection for communities that rely on the road for their daily activities.
Ndile said her office will continue engaging the relevant authorities on the matter and will keep the local community informed about the next steps. She expressed her commitment to following up on the project as efforts continue towards its completion.

The plans are at an advanced stage for completion of the Musengo Kabati Road currently stalled at Ngomango following the intervention of Hon Esther Ndile- she is the Patron Wamama Na Ruto, Former nominated MCA and Kitui Woman Rep Aspirant on UDA, She is also Chairperson: Council of Taita Taveta National Polytechnic
