Yoana Kimwele has called on leaders in Kitui County to maintain a strong focus on development and service delivery, saying residents expect leadership to translate into tangible improvements in their daily lives.
Kimwele said political differences should not overshadow the responsibility of leaders to address the needs of the people, particularly in areas such as roads, healthcare, water, education, youth empowerment and economic opportunities.
She urged elected leaders and other stakeholders to work together, consult widely and support initiatives that have a direct impact on communities across the county.
According to Kimwele, development should remain a continuous process rather than an issue raised only during election periods. She noted that leaders have a responsibility to account for their promises and ensure that public resources are directed towards projects that benefit residents.
She also encouraged residents to remain engaged in development matters by asking questions, monitoring projects and holding leaders accountable through constructive and evidence-based civic participation.
“Leadership should ultimately be measured by the difference it makes in the lives of the people,” Kimwele said, calling for a sustained commitment to building a better and more prosperous Kitui.
