Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe today commissioned the Kithyoko drift along the Thaana Nzau–Kithyoko River–Kwa Kyumbo market road in Kyome/Thaana Ward, in a move aimed at improving transport and connectivity in the area.
The newly constructed drift, funded by the County Government of Kitui, is expected to ease movement for residents, traders, and motorists who have for years faced transport challenges, especially during rainy seasons.
Residents welcomed the project, saying it will enhance access to markets, schools, and health facilities while boosting economic activities in the region.Governor Malombe also commissioned the Thaana Nzau open-air market, a project designed to provide a conducive trading environment for local business people and support small-scale traders.
The county chief reiterated his administration’s commitment to implementing life-changing development projects across Kitui County in line with his government’s strategic development agenda.
