Malalani was filled with gratitude yesterday as family, leaders, the church fraternity, members of the Retired Educators Association, friends, and residents gathered for the thanksgiving ceremony of former Kitui East MP, Hon. Mwikya Mweu.
The occasion brought the community together in a spirit of faith, unity, and fellowship. Speeches, songs, and prayers centered on celebrating God’s goodness, honoring years of dedicated service, and reflecting on leadership that put people first. For many in attendance, it was a reminder that strong communities are built on shared values and mutual appreciation.
Incoming Women Rep aspirant Jane Mwende Kibati joined the celebrations and was received warmly by residents. Addressing the gathering, she expressed appreciation for the love shown by the people of Malalani and described the event as a powerful display of community bonds.
“It was a wonderful occasion of gratitude, faith, unity, and community fellowship,” Kibati said. “This gathering gave us an opportunity to celebrate God’s goodness, honor dedicated service and leadership, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as a people.”
She congratulated Hon. Mwikya Mweu and his family on the milestone and offered prayers for their continued health, wisdom, and prosperity.
The thanksgiving service underscored the deep respect Malalani residents hold for leaders who serve with commitment. As the 2027 race draws closer, moments like these highlight the values voters say they want in their representatives: humility, service, and connection to the grassroots.
