Kitui Rural parliamentary aspirant Hon. John Kisangau (Mbaki Mbaki) on Friday hosted a Development and Empowerment of Welfare Groups forum at Matulani Primary School playgrounds, bringing together hundreds of residents alongside national and county leaders for an economic empowerment initiative.
The event was attended by several prominent leaders, including Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Nyamai, Senator Beth Syengo, Principal Secretary for Livestock Development Jonathan Mueke, CRA Commissioner Ben Muasya, Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna, Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai, Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu, Kitui County Assembly Speaker Kevin Kinengo Katisya, Kithumula/Kwa Mutonguni MCA Paul Maluki, Dr. Moses Banda, Financial Inclusion Advisor in the Executive Office of the President, State House Coordinator Bonnie Musambi, and Hon. Peninah Malonza, among other leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Kisangau officially declared his intention to contest the Kitui Rural parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election, vowing to unseat incumbent MP David Mboni Mwalika. He accused the sitting legislator of failing to lobby for development projects from the national government, claiming that he avoids working closely with the Kenya Kwanza administration to maintain support within the opposition.
Kisangau argued that meaningful development can only be achieved through constructive engagement with the national government and pledged to champion infrastructure, economic empowerment, and service delivery if elected. He urged Kitui Rural residents to support leaders who prioritize development over partisan politics.
The forum also focused on empowering welfare groups through government-backed initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods, enhancing financial inclusion, and promoting sustainable economic growth across Kitui Rural Constituency.
