Kitui gubernatorial aspirant CPA Nicholas Mulila on Sunday intensified his grassroots engagement after joining hundreds of faithful at AIC Thokoa Church in Mwingi West for a worship service before leading other leaders in a fundraising event aimed at supporting the construction of the church.
Mulila, who has continued to traverse different parts of Kitui County engaging residents and supporting community initiatives, reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with faith-based organizations, describing churches as key partners in promoting unity, moral values, and community development.
Speaking during the fundraiser, the gubernatorial hopeful praised the congregation for their determination to complete the church project, noting that investing in places of worship strengthens social cohesion while providing spaces that nurture spiritual and community growth.
He called on leaders, well-wishers, and residents to continue supporting development initiatives spearheaded by religious institutions, saying collective responsibility remains essential in transforming communities.
The fundraiser attracted church leaders, worshippers, and supporters who made contributions and pledged additional support towards the completion of the church building.
Also in attendance was Kitui County CECM for Agriculture Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, who is seeking the Wiper Party ticket for the Kitui Senate seat in the 2027 General Election. Dr. Mbaya echoed the importance of supporting faith-based institutions, saying churches play a vital role in fostering social development and moral leadership.
Other leaders present included Kyome/Thaana Ward MCA Hon. Alphonce Mukwaiyu and Mwingi West parliamentary aspirant Hon. Jonathan Ngenga (Kingโee), alongside other invited guests.
The Sunday event formed part of CPA Nicholas Mulilaโs continued engagements with communities across Kitui County as he builds support ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial race through participation in religious, social, and development activities.
