Former Mwingi Central MP and UDA 2027 parliamentary candidate Hon. Joe Mutambu on Friday, August 7, 2026, hosted a major UDA empowerment and public engagement forum at Kanzoka in Kivou Ward, Mwingi Central, bringing together hundreds of residents, women, youth and grassroots leaders. The forum focused on strengthening livelihoods, promoting economic independence and creating opportunities for families across the constituency.
Mutambu used the gathering to highlight his efforts in lobbying the national government to revive stalled development projects in Mwingi Central, including the construction of the Enziu Bridge. He also pointed to the planned KSh53 million construction of a South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) campus at Kanzoka in Kivou Ward, describing the project as a major boost to education and economic opportunities for local residents.
SEKU representative Dr. Butali Namasaka attended the forum and confirmed that the government is funding the construction of the new campus at Kasyoka. The development is expected to expand access to university education within Mwingi Central while opening up new opportunities for students and the wider community.
Mutambu’s political influence at the grassroots was also on display, with several local leaders and community voices rallying behind his UDA bid for the Mwingi Central parliamentary seat in 2027. Among those associated with his growing grassroots network is Katiwa Nzoka, a prominent local voice-note blogger, as the former MP continues efforts to consolidate support ahead of the next General Election.
The Kanzoka forum was part of the ongoing UDA empowerment and public engagement activities across Kitui County, which have been spearheaded by Kitui South MP Dr. Racheal Kaki Nyamai. She was accompanied by PS Jonathan Mueke, Mwingi West MP Hon. Charles Nguna, Kitui East MP Hon. Nimrod Mbai, former Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza, Hon. Boniface Musambi and other leaders. The growing cooperation among UDA leaders, grassroots networks and residents is increasingly strengthening the party’s presence across Kitui County as the 2027 political contest gathers momentum.
