Kitui gubernatorial hopeful Nicholas Mulila has visited a grieving family in Kasasi, Voo Kyamatu, Kitui East, following the devastating death of three children in a suspected aflatoxin poisoning incident.

Mulila joined relatives, friends and members of the local community as they mourned the children of Mutemi Mala, offering condolences and practical support to the bereaved family during what has been described as one of their darkest moments.

His visit has drawn attention not only because of the assistance extended to the family, but also because of the decision to physically stand with the mourners at a time when the community is grappling with the painful loss.

The tragedy has renewed concerns over food safety and the dangers posed by aflatoxin contamination, particularly in communities where maize and other staple foods form a major part of household diets.
