Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe has commissioned development projects worth highlighting in Nzambani Ward, Kitui East Sub-County, as his administration continues to roll out infrastructure and social services across the county.

During a commissioning tour on Friday, October 16, 2026, Malombe was accompanied by local leaders to inspect and commission projects aimed at improving access to healthcare, water, roads and economic opportunities.

Nzambani became the 30th ward visited under the governor’s development tour programme. The ward is also part of the Kitui County Municipality, making its growing population and infrastructure needs particularly significant.

According to the county administration, 125 development projects spread across Nzambani Ward are contributing to improved livelihoods and better access to essential services.

One of the key projects visited was the Resort Kunguluni/Kiluilu drift and road opening, which is expected to improve connectivity and reduce the distance between Kunguluni Primary School and Kitui County Referral Hospital to less than two kilometres.

The governor also commissioned Mwembe Tayari Dispensary, a facility expected to bring healthcare services closer to residents in the densely populated and rapidly expanding Mwembe Tayari area.

Water access featured prominently during the tour, with the Kavalula hybrid borehole project highlighted as an important investment supporting the needs of a growing municipality. The project uses an existing pipeline and two elevated plastic water tanks to improve water distribution to the community.

Other projects visited included fencing and the installation of a gate at Mathulini Vocational Training Centre, the opening of a 3.8-kilometre road linking Muani to Mutitu Shopping Centre, and the Kwa Kinyai Market shed.

The tour also covered the Kwa Omari and Kwa Mbaa Isika–Syombuku roads, which are expected to improve local connectivity and ease the movement of residents and goods.

The projects reflect the county government’s development priorities of improving road infrastructure, expanding access to healthcare, strengthening water supply and creating better conditions for local economic activity.

Through the ward-based commissioning tours, the Malombe administration is seeking to demonstrate the impact of its development agenda at the grassroots level under The Kitui County Promise.

For residents of Nzambani, the long-term value of these investments will be measured by improved access to essential services, easier movement, reliable water supply and expanded opportunities for businesses and households.
