St Charles Lwanga School in Kitui County has taken a major step towards improving students’ accommodation following the official opening and handover of a Sh25.6 million ultra-modern dormitory. The ceremony was graced by Safaricom Chief Corporate Security Officer Nicholas Mulila and officials from the Safaricom M-PESA Foundation, whose support made the landmark project possible.
The new dormitory is expected to ease accommodation challenges that have faced the school, providing a modern residential facility with a capacity of more than 700 students. The development marks a significant milestone in the institution’s growth and efforts to create a more conducive learning environment.
Mulila, who also serves as the school’s Board of Management chairperson, used the occasion to challenge students to remain focused on their education and pursue academic excellence. He reminded them that opportunities abound for those who work hard, remain disciplined and are determined to achieve their dreams.
The project stands out as a major investment by the Safaricom M-PESA Foundation in education, with the facility described as the largest dormitory of its kind in Kitui County’s schools. Its completion underscores the importance of partnerships between educational institutions, private-sector organisations and development foundations in addressing infrastructure needs.
For St Charles Lwanga School, the new dormitory represents more than an additional building; it is an investment in students’ welfare and future success. With improved accommodation, the institution is better positioned to support its growing student population and provide learners with an environment where they can concentrate on their studies and prepare for a brighter future.
