Nguna Explains Why He Backed President Ruto Over Kalonzo

Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna (CNN) has explained why he chose to part ways with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and align himself with President William Ruto, saying his decision was driven by a desire to champion development-focused politics.

Speaking during a public engagement, Nguna said President Ruto’s leadership is centered on issues affecting wananchi rather than tribal or divisive politics. According to the legislator, Kenya needs leaders who unite the country and focus on delivering development regardless of political or ethnic affiliations.

The MP maintained that his cooperation with the Kenya Kwanza administration has enabled Mwingi West to secure key development projects and opportunities, arguing that his priority is improving the lives of his constituents. He said leaders should embrace issue-based politics that promote service delivery instead of political confrontation.

Nguna’s remarks come amid the continuing political realignments in Ukambani ahead of the 2027 General Election, where his decision to work closely with President Ruto has attracted both support and criticism from different political quarters.
