Kitui County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, has presented certificates to graduates of the She Supports Her Enterprise (SHE) Programme, implemented under the Livelihood and Food Security in Kenya (LHK) Project.
The graduation ceremony, held on Friday at a hotel in Kitui, marked the successful completion of a five-day training programme conducted from August 10 to 14, 2026.
The programme, implemented by iDE Kenya with support from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, aims to strengthen agricultural mechanization enterprises, reduce post-harvest losses and improve livelihoods among rural communities in Kitui County.
During the training, participants were equipped with practical skills in business management, financial literacy and enterprise development. The skills are expected to help the entrepreneurs establish, manage and grow sustainable and profitable businesses within the agricultural value chain.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Dr. Mbaya underscored the County Government of Kitui’s commitment to promoting agricultural transformation and supporting entrepreneurship as a pathway towards sustainable livelihoods.
His participation and presentation of certificates also highlighted the importance of partnerships between the county government, development organisations and local entrepreneurs in addressing challenges facing the agricultural sector.
The SHE Programme is expected to contribute to improved access to agricultural mechanization services while creating opportunities for enterprise development and employment, particularly in rural areas.
The County Government has continued to emphasise initiatives that enhance food security, strengthen agricultural value chains and equip residents with skills and opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
