A breathtaking monolithic outcrop, Nzambani Rock, today provided the perfect backdrop for the official launch of the Kitui Tourism Circuit by the County Government of Kitui under the leadership of H.E. Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, EGH.
The new circuit is designed to position Kitui as a top tourism destination and is divided into four sub-circuits:
- Kitui Southern Sub-Circuit
- Kitui Central Sub-Circuit
- Mwingi Central Sub-Circuit
- Mwingi North Sub-Circuit
The launch coincided with the United Nations World Tourism Day, celebrated under the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” The event emphasized tourism’s transformative role not just as an economic driver, but as a catalyst for social progress, offering education, employment, and new opportunities for local communities.
Governor Malombe underscored the need for good governance, strategic planning, and sustainability-centered policies to unlock the sector’s full potential. He called for deliberate and inclusive approaches to ensure that tourism development in Kitui aligns with long-term sustainability goals while promoting resilience and social equity.
With the new tourism circuit, Kitui seeks to leverage its unique cultural and natural heritage to attract visitors, create jobs, and drive inclusive growth across the county.
