Kitui women representative Dr Irene Muthoni Kasalu on Thursday received a rousing welcome from residents after arriving in Kasaala during her grassroots tour across Kitui South.
Hundreds of supporters lined up to welcome the Woman Representative, with chants, songs and celebrations dominating the event as residents expressed confidence in her leadership and growing political influence ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial race.
Speaking during the visit, locals described Dr. Kasalu as a leader who remains close to the people and understands the challenges facing ordinary residents. Supporters said her continued engagement with grassroots communities has strengthened trust and inspired hope across the county.
The tour, branded under the “Ziara Mashinani” initiative, attracted leaders, youth and women groups who reiterated their support for Dr. Kasalu’s political ambitions, terming her a strong contender for the Kitui Governor seat in 2027.
Political observers note that Dr. Kasalu’s frequent interactions with residents and development-focused approach continue to build momentum in different parts of Kitui County as the 2027 succession politics gradually take shape.
