National Liberal Party leader Dr. Kyalo Muli has criticized the recent Wamunyoro meeting of opposition leaders, dismissing it as a gathering of self-serving politicians rather than a genuine movement for change. In a fiery statement, Dr. Muli accused the opposition figures of exploiting the current frustrations among Kenyans without offering meaningful solutions.
“We were treated to a great show of unity in Wamunyoro. Listening to them, one might believe we have finally seen the light. But a closer look at all those faces tells us something different. They are not people who care about this country. They are just opportunists,” he said.
Dr. Muli likened the opposition leaders to hyenas taking advantage of a wounded lion, saying they are circling President William Ruto’s vulnerable administration without having done anything to earn the public’s trust.
“They are like hyenas who wait for a lion to wound an animal, and in the struggle, they grab a leg and run with it. But they will still remain hyenas.”
He credited Kenya’s youth, particularly Gen Z, for leading last year’s protests against the Finance Bill, arguing that true change was sparked by young people, not career politicians.
“The real lion is the Gen Z. They struck the blow to William Ruto last year. Now, the old and tired politicians want to claim the prize. Where were they when the youth were on the streets?”
Dr. Muli called on opposition figures to show what they have accomplished during their years in leadership before claiming to be agents of change.

“Don’t tell us Ruto must go in 2027. Tell us how people will eat today. How our children will go to school. How our parents will access medical care now.”
He concluded by urging the older generation of politicians to step aside if they have no solutions, saying Kenya needs new leadership with bold, fresh ideas to address the country’s deepening crises.___
