Former Charity Ngilu has reaffirmed the importance of locally driven financial institutions in addressing the economic needs of communities across Kitui County.
Speaking during the Annual General Meetings (AGMs) of both Nguni and Nuu Financial Services Associations (FSAs) in Mwingi, Ngilu noted that the community-based financial groups are uniquely positioned to understand and bridge the financing gaps affecting ordinary wananchi.
“Our local Financial Services Associations are built for us, by us. They have a better understanding of the financing gaps of our people,” said Ngilu, while commending the leadership and members of the associations for promoting financial inclusion at the grassroots.
The former governor further encouraged residents to continue supporting cooperative and community financial initiatives, saying they remain key drivers of economic empowerment, especially for small-scale traders, farmers, women, and youth in rural areas.
