On Thursday evening, Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Nding’o presided over a site handover ceremony for the implementation of integrated solar street lighting along the stretch from Kwavonza Town to Tiva River. The project is expected to improve visibility, enhance safety, and support night-time economic activities in the growing trading centre.
The event also served as a second site handover for already completed works involving the installation and hoisting of additional street lights running from Mwitasyano River through Kwa Konga to Kwavonza Town. The completed and upcoming lighting projects form part of a broader effort to modernize infrastructure within the ward and improve service delivery to residents.
Hon Mark Nding’o noted that the developments mark a key step in restoring Kwavonza Town’s economic vibrancy, recalling the period between 2013 and 2017 when the town experienced notable growth and activity.
The projects have also been linked to ongoing county-led infrastructure improvements under the leadership of Dr Julius Makau Malombe, with local leaders expressing optimism that the expanded street lighting network will help revive the town’s former commercial prominence and improve safety for residents and traders alike.
