Makali Mulu says Any County Decisions Will Start With Public Input

Dr. Makali Mulu has pledged to put residents at the center of county decision-making, saying public participation will become the foundation of development planning if elected in 2027. Speaking to residents in Kanyangi, Makali said county leadership should focus on listening to the people and responding to their priorities.

He stressed that effective leadership is built on understanding the challenges facing communities. “I will work with all residents to deliver what they expect from the county government,” he said, adding that his administration would ensure citizens have a direct role in shaping development programs and policies.

Makali emphasized the need for leaders to remain attentive to the concerns of ordinary citizens rather than imposing decisions from the top. “My county leadership will have big ears, not a big mouth,” he told residents. He noted that people know their problems best and should therefore guide government action by identifying areas requiring urgent attention.

To strengthen grassroots governance and decentralize power, he announced plans to introduce a Ward Fund Policy that would allow each ward to manage its own resources. Under the proposal, project management committees would oversee spending while all expenditures would operate under the County Finances Act to ensure transparency and accountability.

The aspiring county leader also promised to support trade in agriculture, livestock, and natural resources by creating policies that guarantee fairness for traders. He said producers and business people deserve equitable returns without unnecessary government interference, adding that economic empowerment would remain a major pillar of his development agenda ahead of the 2027 elections.
