Gov Malombe Commissions Key Infrastructure and Health Projects in Waita Ward

Kitui County Governor Dr. Julius Malombe on Friday led the commissioning of several key development projects in Waita Ward, Mwingi Central Sub-County, aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare access, and overall service delivery to residents.

The Governor was accompanied by the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, alongside other county officials and local leaders during the development tour that underscored the county government’s commitment to equitable development.

Among the projects commissioned were the 45-metre Mutwangombe Drift, the extended Kathoka Vented Drift, and associated river protection works. The infrastructure projects are expected to enhance road connectivity, ease movement of people and goods, and improve safety during rainy seasons when rivers often become impassable.

Speaking during the event, Governor Malombe reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to delivering tangible development outcomes across all wards in the county. He noted that the projects reflect the county government’s focus on addressing the everyday needs of wananchi.

“Development is not a promise for tomorrow; it is a reality we are delivering today, project by project and ward by ward,” said the Governor, emphasizing that his administration remains committed to ensuring that no area is left behind in the county’s development agenda.

The Governor also commissioned the renovated outpatient block at Waita Health Centre and the renovated and newly equipped Maongoa Dispensary. The health facilities have undergone significant improvements to strengthen healthcare services and create a better environment for both patients and medical staff.

Residents welcomed the projects, saying the improved infrastructure and healthcare facilities will significantly enhance their quality of life. The upgraded health centres are expected to bring essential medical services closer to the people, reducing travel distances and improving access to quality healthcare for communities across Waita Ward.
