Benedict Muasya, the National Commissioner for Revenue Allocation and Kitui West parliamentary aspirant, has emphasized the importance of education as a key driver of social and economic transformation, saying investment in learning institutions can uplift entire communities.
Speaking during a fundraising event at Mutonguni Region Academy in Kitui West, Muasya noted that education remains the greatest equalizer in society and has the power to change lives.
“Education is an equalizer. One successful child can transform an entire community. Leaders have to be deliberate in building centres of academic excellence aligned to strategic socio-economic transformative goals,” he said.
Muasya joined members of the Mutonguni community during the fundraising drive, which was aimed at raising funds to complete the school’s dormitory and support general refurbishment and improvement of learning infrastructure.
He urged leaders and stakeholders to prioritize investments in education to ensure schools provide an environment that promotes quality learning and equips learners with skills needed for future development.
The event brought together several leaders and dignitaries, among them Nicholas Mulila, Makali Mulu, and outgoing Kitui West MP Edith Nyenze.
Community members expressed optimism that the improvements at the school will enhance learning conditions and contribute to better academic performance among students.
