Kitui Woman Representative and Wiper gubernatorial aspirant Dr. Irene Kasalu received a warm reception from residents of Kisasani and Kitoo villages in Mutomo Kibwea Ward during her ongoing Ziara Mashinani development tour.
Large crowds turned out to welcome the county’s Woman Representative, with supporters describing the tour as a demonstration of her growing grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general election.
During the visit, Dr. Kasalu donated tents, chairs and financial support for table banking groups as part of her socio-economic empowerment programme aimed at strengthening community-based organizations and promoting financial inclusion among residents.
The beneficiaries said the donations would enhance their meetings and boost savings and income-generating activities through table banking initiatives.
Speaking during the tour, Dr. Kasalu reaffirmed her commitment to empowering communities across Kitui County, saying grassroots development and economic empowerment remain central to her leadership agenda.
“I want every ward in Kitui to benefit from development and economic opportunities. Empowering our people, especially women and youth, is key to building a prosperous county,” she said.
The Ziara Mashinani programme has seen the Woman Representative traverse different parts of Kitui County, engaging residents and supporting community development initiatives while outlining her vision for the county ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial race.
Her supporters maintained that the enthusiastic reception witnessed in Mutomo Kibwea Ward reflects increasing grassroots support for her gubernatorial bid, setting the stage for what is expected to be a highly competitive contest for the Wiper Party ticket.
