Thousands Flock to Register National Liberal Party Membership During Syokimau FM Roadshow in Kitui

In a show of political momentum, thousands of residents from Kitui Central poured into the streets on Thursday to join the newly-formed National Liberal Party (NLP) during a vibrant roadshow organized by Syokimau FM.

The event, which began as a musical and entertainment extravaganza, swiftly turned into a full-blown political spectacle as scores of enthusiastic locals registered as NLP members. The roadshow traversed key areas of Kitui town, drawing widespread attention and participation.

At the heart of the event was Augustus Muli, the party’s leader and a fresh face in the region’s political scene. Addressing the energized crowd, Muli expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and declared the beginning of a “new dawn in Ukambani politics.”

“We are not here to recycle old politics,” said Muli. “We are here to plant new ideas and grow a prosperous Ukambani.”

Muli emphasized the NLP’s core values of empowerment, inclusivity, and economic transformation, promising a people-first approach that breaks away from traditional political norms.

Political analysts say the event marks a potentially significant shift in the region’s political dynamics, especially as the countdown to the 2027 general election intensifies. The turnout and grassroots enthusiasm have sparked speculation that NLP may pose a real challenge to the entrenched political establishments in Kitui and the wider Ukambani region.

Whether the energy witnessed at the roadshow translates into electoral victory remains to be seen—but one thing is certain: the political winds in Ukambani are beginning to shift.
