A parliamentary aspirant in Kitui West Eng Vincent Mutua has rolled out an ambitious “People First” agenda aimed at transforming livelihoods through inclusive leadership and targeted development projects. The plan prioritizes people-centered governance, with a commitment to regular public engagement forums in every ward to ensure residents actively shape development priorities. The aspirant emphasized that leadership must be responsive, transparent, and rooted in the needs of the community.
Infrastructure and essential services form a key pillar of the agenda, with a focus on opening up the constituency through improved road networks, including the Syongila–Matinyani–Kakumuti–Kwa Mbelu road, Katutu–Kwa Vonza road, and Kabati–Musengo road. The blueprint also outlines major water projects such as Kitumui, Matinga, and Muthamo dams, alongside the construction of an earth dam in every location to tackle persistent water shortages affecting households, farmers, and livestock keepers.
The development plan further highlights social and economic empowerment initiatives, including the establishment of a Kitui West Education Fund to support bright but needy students, installation of floodlights in markets to boost security and trade, and expanded opportunities for women and youth through funding, training, and job creation programs. The aspirant also pledged to promote SMEs, facilitate internships for students, and set up ICT hubs in every ward to unlock digital opportunities and position Kitui West for growth in the modern economy.
