Residents of Yatta Kwavonza Ward are set to benefit from improved water access following the official site handover for completion works at Masimbani Dam in Usenyo, Kiliko, Kwavonza.
Speaking during the exercise on Wednesday, Yatta Kwavonza Ward MCA Mark Nding’o said the project aims to enhance water conservation and ensure the community has reliable access to water during the dry season. The rehabilitation works will include construction of gabions, fencing, and fabrication of a gate to protect the dam from destruction by animals.
The MCA noted that the project is being implemented in partnership with the County Government of Kitui and forms part of development promises made by Julius Malombe to residents of Yatta Kwavonza Ward. He expressed optimism that the upgraded dam will serve the local community for a long period and improve livelihoods through better water availability.
