Police have launched investigations following the discovery of a suspected mass grave near Delta Petrol Station in Tyaa, Mwingi, where several bodies are feared to be buried.
The shocking discovery was made on Monday morning after residents noticed a decomposing male body in a shallow grave, raising fears that there could be more victims buried at the site. The incident has sent shockwaves across Mwingi Town and the surrounding areas.
Local police officers immediately secured the scene and placed the area under guard as they awaited the arrival of homicide detectives and forensic experts to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and determine the number of victims involved.
Among leaders who visited the scene was Enoch Wambua, who described the discovery as horrifying and called for calm as investigations continue. He urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in identifying those responsible.
“Mwingi residents, stay calm but stay vigilant. Watch closely and report the criminals determined to destroy our town’s good image,” Senator Wambua said while addressing members of the public gathered at the scene.
Police have not yet released official details regarding the identities of the deceased or the exact number of bodies suspected to be buried at the location. Investigations are ongoing as detectives work to uncover the truth behind the disturbing discovery.
