The County Government of Kitui has intensified preparations for the upcoming Kitui Agricultural Show, Trade and Investment Expo (KASTIE) 2026 through strategic engagements aimed at attracting investors and promoting the county as a prime investment destination. As part of these efforts, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, and the CECM for Trade and Industry, Rose Mutuku, paid a courtesy visit to the Kenya Investment Authority in Nairobi.
During the meeting, the county delegation and investment officials discussed areas of collaboration that will enhance the success of KASTIE 2026. The talks focused on attracting both local and international investors, increasing delegate participation, and showcasing the vast investment opportunities available across Kitui County.
A key agenda item was the strengthening of the county’s One-Stop-Shop and County Investment Unit to streamline permits, approvals, and other industrial processes. The initiative is expected to improve the ease of doing business in Kitui and create a more investor-friendly environment for enterprises seeking to establish operations in the county.
The discussions also explored the role that Invest Kenya can play in the planning, promotion, and mobilization of investors for KASTIE 2026. Both parties emphasized the importance of partnerships in positioning the expo as a major platform for investment promotion, trade networking, and economic growth.
Additionally, the meeting examined opportunities for resource mobilization and investment partnerships to support the development of the Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park. Particular attention was given to attracting investments in the county’s priority value chains, a move expected to spur industrialization, create jobs, and strengthen Kitui’s economic transformation agenda.
