KATSE, MWINGI NORTH — Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has commissioned the renovated Katse Health Centre Maternity Block, a major project implemented by his administration to improve maternal healthcare services and strengthen access to quality medical care in the region.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Malombe said the renovation of the maternity facility is part of the county government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and ensuring residents receive efficient and reliable medical services closer to their homes. He emphasized that improving maternal and child healthcare remains a key priority of his administration.
The upgraded maternity block is expected to significantly improve healthcare delivery by creating a more conducive environment for expectant mothers, reducing congestion, and enabling health workers to offer better and safer maternity services. Residents of Katse and neighboring areas are expected to benefit from the improved facility.
Local leaders and community members welcomed the development, noting that the enhanced maternity services will help address challenges that expectant mothers previously faced, including traveling long distances in search of specialized maternal healthcare services.
The commissioning marks another milestone in the county government’s ongoing efforts to expand and modernize health facilities across Kitui County. The project is expected to contribute to improved maternal health outcomes and reinforce the county’s broader agenda of strengthening healthcare systems for all residents.
