On 26th June, 2026 Kitui County Deputy Governor H.E. Wambua Kanani accompanied Governor H.E. Dr. Julius Malombe, EGH, on an extensive development tour of Muumoni Ward, where several key projects aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening essential public services were officially commissioned. The tour highlighted the county administration’s commitment to accelerating grassroots development and enhancing service delivery across communities.
Among the flagship projects commissioned was the KIMWASCO Kyoea–Kalatine Water Extension Project, expected to significantly improve access to clean and reliable water for residents in the area. The leaders also launched the Nguuku Sump Well project, an initiative set to boost water availability and support households and local economic activities in Muumoni Ward.
The development tour further focused on strengthening education and healthcare infrastructure through the commissioning of Kaliwa Polytechnic and Dispensary. The projects are expected to provide local youth with skills development opportunities while improving access to quality healthcare services for residents who previously faced challenges in reaching medical facilities.
In addition, Governor Malombe and Deputy Governor Kanani commissioned the Katse Maternity Wing and Polytechnic, projects aimed at enhancing maternal healthcare and expanding vocational education opportunities within the region. The county leadership emphasized that investment in health, water, and education remains central to improving livelihoods and driving sustainable development across Kitui County.
The event was attended by several county officials and leaders, including area MCA Mr. Kasinga, CECMs Dr. Mbaya Kimwele, Ms. Joyce Masila, Eng. Itiko, and John Mwendandu. Also present were Chief Officers Nathan Vungo (Water), Eng. Kennedy Munyambu (VTCs), Mutinda Kamba (Medical Services), Lyn Kitwan (Public Health), Soi Masai (Environment), Michael Kalii (Trade), and Kitonga Salee (Administration), demonstrating a coordinated county effort in delivering transformative development projects.
