The County Government of Kitui has continued with the disbursement of the Ksh 7 million financial matching grant programme aimed at strengthening farmer-based SACCOs and improving access to affordable agricultural financing.
Among the SACCOs that benefitted today were Kaliku Women Star SACCO, which received Ksh 3 million, Matinyani SACCO which received Ksh 2 million, and Kikavi SACCO which received Ksh 655,000.
The disbursement exercise was led by Kitui County Executive for Agriculture and Livestock Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele together with Chief Officer for Agriculture Gladys Kivoto. *The two lauded Governor Dr. Julius Malombe for prioritising farmer empowerment through programmes that enhance financial inclusion, boost agricultural productivity and strengthen livelihoods among rural communities.*
They further noted that the matching grants will enable the SACCOs to expand their lending capacity to farmers, support agribusiness investments and promote sustainable value chain development across the county
