Kitui Woman Representative Irene Kasalu has called for the immediate resignation of Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale following the killing of four people by suspected camel herders in Tseikuru Sub-County, Mwingi North.
Speaking during her ongoing meet-the-people tour in Kitui East Constituency, Kasalu expressed outrage over the latest incident, describing it as evidence of continued insecurity that has left residents living in fear.
The Woman Representative said the government had failed to adequately address recurring attacks linked to camel herders, despite numerous complaints and appeals from leaders and residents in the affected areas. She argued that stronger action was needed to protect communities and prevent further loss of life.
In a strongly worded statement, Kasalu directly challenged the Cabinet Secretary, accusing him of failing to resolve the insecurity crisis affecting parts of Kitui County.
“You claimed you own the camels, but it’s time to show you what happens when the Kamba people say enough is enough. When we say it, we mean it. Your time is up. Resign now!” Kasalu declared amid cheers from supporters.
The legislator said the killing of the four residents in Tseikuru had caused pain and anger among local communities, adding that families in the region deserve justice and enhanced security measures.
She further called on the national government and security agencies to intensify operations in the affected areas, pursue those responsible for the killings, and ensure that residents can live and carry out their daily activities without fear.
Kasalu also urged leaders from across the region to speak with one voice in demanding lasting solutions to insecurity, saying the protection of lives should remain a national priority above political interests.
The latest attack has once again brought renewed attention to the long-standing tensions associated with the movement of camel herders in parts of Kitui County, an issue that local leaders have repeatedly raised with the national government.
As pressure continues to mount following the killings, residents and leaders are now demanding swift government intervention, accountability, and concrete measures to restore peace and security in Tseikuru and other affected areas of Mwingi North.
