Kitui Governor Malombe Unveils Infrastructure Projects Dashboard to Enhance Transparency and Accountability

Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has officially launched the Kitui County Infrastructure Projects Dashboard, a digital platform designed to document, track and showcase development projects implemented across the county since the advent of devolution in 2013.

Speaking during the commissioning of the dashboard at the Governor’s Office Grounds, Dr. Malombe described the platform as a major milestone in strengthening transparency, accountability and evidence-based governance within the county.

According to the Governor, the dashboard contains records of 12,423 infrastructure projects implemented across Kitui County as of June 30, 2025.

“The projects include 3,403 water projects, 3,118 road projects, 2,154 education projects, 1,831 health and sanitation projects, 1,442 energy and environmental projects, 160 agricultural projects, 149 projects in gender, culture, sports and tourism, 163 governance, ICT and administration projects, and three disaster management projects, reflecting the scale of development achieved under devolution,” he noted.

The Governor also highlighted key achievements in the education sector, noting that 1,403 modern ECDE classrooms have been constructed since devolution, significantly improving access to quality learning environments.

He added that the dashboard will also help identify existing development gaps, including the 285 primary school centres still without modern ECDE classrooms, thereby guiding future investment priorities.

The county chief indicated that the dashboard features detailed information on project locations, implementation years and financial allocations with all projects geo-referenced to enable users to accurately locate and verify developments within their localities.
