On Thursday, June 25, 2026 – The County Assembly of Kitui unanimously approved the Kitui County Supplementary Appropriation (No. 2) Bill, 2026 (County Assembly Bill No. 3 of 2026) during its plenary sitting. The approval follows the House’s earlier adoption of the Kitui County Supplementary Budget II Estimates for the Financial Year 2025/2026.
The passage of the Appropriation Bill now provides the legal framework for the County Government of Kitui to utilize the approved Supplementary Budget II Estimates.
The Bill seeks to authorize the issue of a sum of money out of the the County Revenue Fund and their application towards the service of the year ending ending 30th June 2026, and to appropriate those sums for certain public services and purposes.
Speaking after the passage of the Bill, the Speaker of the County Assembly, Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, lauded Members for their commitment to ensuring the budget process was concluded successfully. He urged the County Executive to exercise prudence, accountability, and transparency in the utilization of public resources.
The Speaker also commended the Governor, Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, for embracing dialogue and consultation, which helped resolve the stalemate that had threatened to derail the budget-making process.
He further challenged Members of the County Assembly to remain steadfast in their oversight mandate to ensure that the approved supplentary budget delivers tangible benefits and addresses the needs and aspirations of the people of Kitui.
