Kitui East, Sunday, April 5, 2026 — Kitui East Constituency is increasingly shaping up as a political stronghold for Makali Mulu after the legislator intensified his grassroots engagements in the region.

The Kitui Central MP, who has declared his bid for the 2027 gubernatorial seat, attended an Easter Sunday service at AIC Kyukuni in Voo-Kyamatu Ward, where he received a warm reception from hundreds of faithfuls and local leaders.

The service, presided over by church leader Dominic Kamwilwa, drew a large congregation, reflecting growing support for Dr. Mulu’s leadership as he continues to consolidate his influence across the county.

While addressing the congregation, Dr. Mulu took a swipe at the government, accusing it of poor service delivery and failure to effectively implement development programs. He emphasized the need for accountable leadership and people-centered governance to improve the livelihoods of residents.

The MP reiterated his commitment to transforming Kitui County, saying his administration would prioritize development, transparency, and inclusivity if elected governor in 2027.

Among those present was Voo-Kyamatu Ward MCA Zack Syengo, who hosted the event alongside other local leaders, signaling a growing alignment of grassroots leadership behind Dr. Mulu’s gubernatorial ambitions.

Political analysts now view Kitui East as a key battleground that Dr. Mulu appears to be steadily securing, as he ramps up his countywide campaign to succeed the current leadership in the upcoming elections.
