Mp Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai Attends 2026/2027 Budget Reading at Parliament Buildings, Nairobi

Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai on Thursday joined other Members of Parliament at the official reading of the 2026/2027 National Budget at the Parliament Buildings, fulfilling a key constitutional duty of the National Assembly.

The annual budget reading marks a critical stage in Kenya’s fiscal planning process, where lawmakers review and analyze government expenditure proposals for the coming financial year. MPs use the occasion to assess how national resources are distributed across sectors and regions.

For Kitui South, Dr. Nyamai is closely expected to monitor key priority allocations, including funding for the Ikutha–Kanziku–Mutha–Mutomo bitumen road Phase 2, which remains a major infrastructure focus in the constituency. She is also tracking NG-CDF allocations targeting school renovations and bursary support under the educational support programme.

Security and development projects also form part of her oversight agenda, with attention on allocations linked to “Operation Maliza Bandits” in the Mutha area and improved security operations in surrounding regions. In addition, water access and last-mile connectivity projects remain central priorities for the arid and semi-arid parts of Kitui South.

Dr. Nyamai, who serves on the National Assembly Liaison Committee and the House Business Committee, plays a role in shaping parliamentary scheduling and oversight processes, giving her influence in how budget matters are prioritized and debated within the House.

The 2026/2027 budget comes at a time when Kitui South and the wider region are experiencing ongoing development initiatives, including Phase 1 of the C418 road project launched in late 2025 and broader county investments in infrastructure such as the Ithookwe Stadium and Kitui Airstrip upgrades.

As the budget process continues in Parliament, MPs are expected to scrutinize allocations in detail before approval, with constituency leaders like Dr. Nyamai pushing for increased development funding to address local needs in roads, education, water, and security.
