The hearing into the proposed removal from office of the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance, Economic Planning and Revenue Management, Hon. Catherine Mutanu Raphael, was on Monday halted after the Select Committee received official communication confirming her removal from office.
The Select Committee had convened to hear submissions from the CECM as part of ongoing proceedings regarding allegations that had prompted a proposed removal process.
The sitting followed Hon. Catherine Mutanu Raphaelโs appearance before the committee last Friday, during which she requested additional time to prepare and present her response to the allegations against her. The committee granted the request and rescheduled the hearing for Monday, July 6, 2026.
However, during the course of the proceedings, the committee received a notification indicating that the officer had already been removed from her position as County Executive Committee Member for Finance. The communication was contained in a letter signed by the County Secretary and presented before the committee.
Following the development, the committee stated that it could not proceed with the hearing as earlier scheduled due to the change in circumstances.
Despite the interruption of the proceedings, the committee resolved to continue discharging its mandate and announced that it would compile a report for tabling before the County Assembly.
