Kitui County Woman Representative Irene Kasalu has intensified her grassroots engagements in Kitui East Constituency, drawing enthusiastic crowds during her Ziara Mashinani tour as political momentum builds ahead of the Wiper patriotic front party primaries.

During a visit to Voo Market in Voo/Kyamatu Ward, Dr. Kasalu rolled out a series of development initiatives aimed at empowering local communities. In Voo, she issued a KSh 150,000 cheque to a Community-Based Organization (CBO) and donated a fully equipped 100-seater tent with chairs to support social and economic activities. The tour then proceeded to Kyamatu, where she extended similar support, including another 100-seater tent and chairs, KSh 80,000 to boda boda groups, and a KSh 150,000 cheque to a local CBO.

Addressing residents, Dr. Kasalu strongly condemned the rising cases of gender-based violence in the region, particularly in Kitui town, and called on security agencies to take swift and decisive action to safeguard women and families. She emphasized the need for collective responsibility in addressing the vice and reaffirmed her commitment to championing the rights and welfare of vulnerable groups.

Her visit has further cemented her presence on the ground, with supporters citing her development track record and accessibility as key strengths. As the 2027 gubernatorial race begins to take shape, Dr. Kasalu used the platform to reaffirm her readiness to lead Kitui County, positioning herself as a capable and people-centered leader.
